Art

Art refers to a diverse range of human activities and artifacts, and may be used to cover all or any of the arts, including music, literature and other forms. It is most often used to refer specifically to the visual arts, including media such as painting, sculpture, and printmaking. However it can also be applied to forms of art that stimulate the other senses, such as music, an auditory art. Aesthetics is the branch of philosophy which considers art.

non format Just when I was about to forget, the London/Minnesota Non-Format update their site and remind me who my daddy is. Some of my favorite new work is the type treatments in these NY Times Style Magazine spreads.

ourmountain2.jpg Mr Steve wrote me this weekend to let me know he posted up a new video with some insight to his Our Mountain traveling Art Experience. Other than getting to see the skilled wizard rock some insane t-shirt fashion, the video does indeed provide a nice look into his recent work. Hotness all around and then some. Peep the Video, Yeah!

rentz Peter Rentz is a rusty blade that slashes fads and trends with a laser precision. He’s updated his site. Please see my favorite designer here.

media_file_1179171.jpgFrederique Daubal recently updated her site. She has been a long time favorite of mine! Her work shows her distinct sense of humor and wit.

lina She shoots with everything from Polaroids to laptops to disposable cameras. Her photos are a hot dose of narcissism. Here’s native Swede and Paris resident Lina Scheynius.

Public Collectors consists of informal agreements where collectors allow the contents of their collection to be published and permit those who are curious to directly experience the objects in person. Participants must be willing to type up an inventory of their collection, provide a means of contact and share their collection with the public. Collectors can be based in any geographic location. The purpose of this project is for large collections of materials to become accessible so that knowledge, ideas and expertise can be freely shared and exchanged. In addition to hosting collection inventories and other information, www.publiccollectors.org includes digital collections that are suitable for web presentation, do not have a physical material analog, or are difficult or impossible to experience otherwise. These photos from one of the digital collections on the site show a sampling of face painting options at about five different vendor booths in Mexico City. My personal favorite…Pirata!
