“House Industries presents the oeuvre of Alexander Girard with a suite of fonts and objects.” One thing that always impresses me about House Industries is their ability to tie in products with their font releases.

Lordy Lordy, sometimes things just take awhile. We FINALLY fixed the bug on our store when some users login and get a blank page. After much treasure digging, we found the culprit and the bug is fixed. Now when you login, you should be greeted by your cozy account page. Sorry for all the troubles, and if you were on the store today sorry for any bugs or hitches while upgraded the system to the new files. Cheers!

linesLeslie Miles is an online curator of sorts whose mission is to not be everyone’s tenth favorite blog, but rather ten people’s favorite blog. From what I’ve seen so far I think he’s put together some gorgeous image collections that he bases around a single word. While he’s not my favorite blog I do think I put him in my top ten. :-)

Painting and Sculpture are probably two of the most inspiring things for us at YWFT right now. Check out Gordon Terry and Michael Hunter.

Although I’m quite tired of winter, these snowflakes by Marian Bantjes are impressive. Reminds me of Albertus Seba’s Cabinet of Curiosities.

makeI saw this video awhile back and meant to post it but then forgot. Anyways… join Mike Mills as he teaches a workshop with kids about taking back public space with some hand made posters.

There’s also more sessions with folks like KAWS, Ed Templeton, and Jesse Spears.
Enjoy!

picture-32This has made its rounds, but it is better late then never? Massimo Vignelli (NY Subway Map pictured above) wrote a short book about what design is. To quote the New Pepsi Logo PDF, it is basically about Graphic Design’s DNA.

Part One covers the Intangibles, such as Semantics, Discipline, Responsibility, etc. Part Two covers the space that design functions in. He takes a different approach than I would, but that is what gives it perspective to me. It is very straight forward and concise, making it an easy read. I only read a little of it, but can’t wait to get the time to review this. If you are a student, you can probably count this as a whole semester’s worth of education for free. It really doesn’t get much better than this.

jp103New JPeople Magazine is out and features Hanazuki, Hydro74, Tokyo Plastic and more. One of the interesting party of the magazine is how they used the font Agostina by adding a 3D shading element to the type itself by cutting up the typeface and adding gradients to it. They also layered the uppercase swash characters to create some interesting results. Not what they teach you in Type 101 but nice results. Shows you can break rules to create some interesting type. Great work, Hello Hikimori.
