I picked up (itunes) the latest Flaming Lips album and have been really digging it. Their last album I listened to it so much, I now despise it (in a good way though). This latest album (Embryonic)Â is really nice because its much more dark and overall just odd, good for my soul right now it seems. So I went looking for any videos released for the new album and came across this one. Not the most amazing video, but its fun for a short break this morning. It will be interesting to see what other videos they release for this album…
Back in February we got a nice call from Catherine Owens, long time super creative director for the uber-famous band U2. Catherine came across our video This is Agostina and knew she found the team who could help rock some video/visuals for this years U2 360 world tour. For the past few months we went to New York for meetings, came back to the Bangkok studio and have been rocking on over 200 video clips for the upcoming show. The concert opens in Barcelona on June 30, 2009 to a sold out crowd of 90,000 fans. For complete tour details you can visit the U2 Tour schedule. As we come to wrap on this project, we are really excited/anxious to show everyone the video we contributed to the project. As soon as the tour gets rolling we will release more details (permitting all NDA rules of course). Till then, just go check out the show, I am sure U2 will give you one hell of a show!
Cinco de Mayo is a regional holiday in Mexico, primarily celebrated in the state of Puebla, with some limited recognition in other parts of Mexico. The holiday commemorates the Mexican army’s unlikely defeat of French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza SeguÃn.

We normally get a good amount of promo material around here from publishers and record labels and I do a horrible job of passing the “good cheer” along, but this will change, starting now. This week we got in a very nice package Stones Throw. The previous package they sent us was nothing-less-than-amazing, custom LP covers hand drawn and sprayed by Jeff Jank himself.
This latest package included Dam-Funk’s Rhythm Trax V4 which is a collection of boogie space synths over some galactic beats. Dam-Funk is someone you should find more about, amazing talent and a strange guy… in a good way. He needs to get booked in Minneapolis.
If “Afrodelic Kraut Funk” sounds like something you could get into, check out Karl Hector & The Malcouns. Its really a flawless lp that should be getting more attention. If you like this, also check out the Heliocentrics who recently hooked up with Mulatu (Broken Flowers soundtrack, etc). Also for sure check out Now Again Records for more of that “clean” sound.
Since this month is Dilla Month, you should check out what is going on over at Stones Throw. They just posted a new Obey poster featuring J Dilla.
YouWorkForThem Celebrates Six Years (Bangkok)
Our birthday was actually back in June, but we have been so busy we forgot to party, so lets do it! There will be free food, live bands from Parinam Records and projections of our latest videos. Phra Nakorn Bar is located by the Democracy Monument. Go through the roundabout, heading towards Sanamluang. After the first red light, it will be the first soi on your left. Phra Nakorn bar will be straight ahead on the right.
Just out a couple days ago, Squarepusher’s Just A Souvenir was released. I haven’t bought the album yet, but I have previewed it on itunes. It sounds a bit much for me, but maybe I will give it a go.
Soundtrack of the day here in the Bangkok studio, Mr Off tells us he has some new music for us to jam too. Little did we know it would involve the sexy (and moaning) vibes of Masami Kawahara & The Exotic Sounds. Hot stuff, in many ways…
Super intense video for the Justice track ‘Stress.’ I will have to admit, when this song pops up in my iTunes, it gets the ol’ skip-to-next treatment, otherwise the whole studio here in BKK goes nuts. Too hectic for our blood (at least early in morning and minus booze). This also reminds me how happy I am that I left Baltimore! The Balti had plenty of bent out of shape little thugs like this running wild.
