A Versatile Geometric Sans Serif From TypeType Foundry: TT Travels
TypeType foundry was established in 2013 by Ivan Gladkikh and Alexander Kudryavtsev in St. Petersburg. The dedication to creating appealing and versatile type designs, paired with their strong work ethic, has led TypeType foundry to become a master of its craft.
Ivan and Alexander put a lot of their effort into fostering collaboration, inviting and encouraging the talent of other typographers to provide graphic designers with the best fonts possible. They prefer type designs with contemporary aesthetics, while offering vast multilingual support and functionality to suit the very specific needs of graphic designers around the world.
One of their more recent releases is TT Travels, designed by Vika Usmanova, a member of the TypeType team. Vika’s own background carries a wealth of experience in branding and identity, and with her love of travel and her desire to see the world, TT Travels naturally emerged from her artistry.
This geometric grotesque is set with wide proportions, taking a bold stance that exudes confidence and strength through any weight – even its lightest. Available in nine weights that include Thin, ExtraLight, Light, Regular, Medium, DemiBold, Bold, ExtraBold, and Black, with corresponding true italics for each, this family of 18 fonts is well suited to vast array of design projects. TT Travels is a brilliant addition to projects that need a contemporary sans serif, including headlines, editorials, publishing, presentations, letterhead, corporate communications, signage, displays, posters, advertising, book covers, product packaging, website layouts, and mobile apps. Its range of weights makes it especially appropriate for branding and identity projects, allowing for fluid design cohesion across multiple media platforms and displays.
Two stylistic letter sets available with TT Travels give graphic designers a lot to work with, beyond the rest of its long list of OpenType features. The first stylistic set is sleek, with tensile curves that give the characters a more humanist character. The second stylistic set is far more angular and sharp, with a futuristic edginess that allows for creative experimentation.
TT Travels offers a host of features, including discretionary ligatures, standard ligatures, ordinals, numerators, denominators, fractions, superscript, subscript, slashed zero, proportional figures, tabular figures, oldstyle figures, and stylistic alternates. Its multilingual support is extensive, covering Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, Pan African Latin, Latin Ligatures, and Basic Cyrillic for global accessibility.
