Based in San Diego, Cutwater Spirits is a relatively new distillery that crafts everything from whiskey to gin, vodka, rum, liqueur, mixers, and more. This “band of liquid pioneers” built a brand that is rooted in creativity with a fearless, unconventional approach to spirits.
Cutwater Spirits needed a type design that would capture the essence of their brand and they chose Sucrose from Yellow Design Studio to do the job. Available in both rough and clean variations, Sucrose is a handcrafted letterpress type design with a rectangular architecture and subtle diagonal detailing that adds a contemporary flair to a traditional lettering style.
Sucrose is a family of 20 all-caps fonts, making it an ideal choice for a branding and identity project like Cutwater Spirits, one that requires fluid design cohesion across multiple media outputs including marketing, product packaging, website designs, and mobile applications.
