Description
Cheltenham is an old style serif typeface, designed in 1896 by Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue and Ingalls Kimball for use by a New York publisher, the Cheltenham Press. Six years later Morris Fuller Benton at American Type Founders (ATF) developed it into a final design and then the series. Cheltenham is not based on a single historical model, and shows influences of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Bold condensed and bold condensed italic variants are used for headlines by The New York Times.
