Description
This font family is based on a New York type style used in advertising during the 1960s.

ALTERNATE CHARACTERS
An alternate "t" and "r" exists in all 6 Fling-a-Ling™ fonts. This allows you to set text with a little more variation, as sometimes different words look better with different combinations of these letters. Placement of these alternate characters was set up to allow Mac users to efficiently achieve these letters by simply typing "Shift-option" in succession with the letter.

Alternate "r" = Shift-Option-r (Mac users), Alt-0137 (PC users)
Alternate "t" = Shift-Option-t (Mac users), Alt-0221 (PC users)

The replaced characters (perthousand, caron, and Y-acute) are not available with this font family release, but will be included in a future OpenType version.

ABOUT THE WEIGHTS
When setting bolder text which is mostly lowercase, you might want to use the Fling-a-Ling™ Medium fonts, whose character outlines are slightly more defined and legible than their bolder counters. For setting mostly uppercase text, however, the Bold fonts are ideal

MACINTOSH STYLE LINKS
The Mac version is linked so that Fling-a-Ling™ Regular and Bold fonts will work with the "style" buttons in your different software applications. In order to use Fling-a-Ling™ Medium and its MediumItalic, you must actually select these fonts from your font menu. These Mediums are linked to each other, but not to the Regulars and the Bolds.

PC FONT NAMES
The PC version of Fling-a-Ling™ has the Regular, Italic, Bold and Bold italic fonts all in the the PC family Fling-a-Ling™, while the Medium fonts are in an additional 2-font family called Fling-a-Ling Medium™.

EURO READY
This is one of the first TypeArt® families to include the "Euro" symbol. Until the release of an OpenType version of this family, the Euro symbol is currently located in the "currency" character slot (Mac: shift-option-2, PC: Alt-0164).

FULL CHARACTER SET
Each font in the Fling-a-Ling™ family has a full character set of 232+ letterforms, with all characters designed in the style of the font.

The first TypeArt fonts were born into the world in 1992, when founder Lloyd Springer produced the first of his more than 400 type designs while trying to create something more interesting to use in his graphic art and desktop publishing assignments. In 1995, the first website was launched to make these cool and artsy fonts available to enthusiastic customers from all over the world. Since then the library has continued to expand and the TypeArt Foundry Inc. has maintained a presence and respected position in the world of modern typography.
