Description: This is the display version of Librum. Librum means “book” in Latin, which I thought was appropriate. Bream is Latin for proclaim—appropriate for display work.

The fonts are very close to Librum-Book and Librum-Italic, with the same OpenType features. The glyphs are modified a bit to make them a little more elegant, but that’s not very noticeable.
Mainly, the letterspacing and kerning is tighter and more carefully fit to large point sizes.
As for classification, I like oldstyle, venetian, geralde, english oldstyle. There’s discrete modulation, slanted crossbars, full brackets serifs of medium thickness and sharp cut ends.

David has worked in printing and publishing since he began in 1971. As he progressed from illustrator, to graphic designer, to typographer, to art director, he fell in love with type. Yet he was frustrated by the fonts available—specifically the lack of oldstyle figures, small cap figures, and the rest of the typographic niceties needed for excellent typography. When he was asked to write the first textbook on the all-digital printing workflow in 1994, he decided he would need to design all the fonts for the book, as well. He was pleasantly surprised to discover that people liked his fonts, and that he sold quite a few. Since that time, he has design dozens of fonts and font families. He designs display fonts, but his heart is in body copy fonts, with a companion font for the headers using the same vertical metrics. Currently, he writes and publishes full-time. His personal, best selling book is "Practical Font Design With FontLab 5".
