OBO Super is the third installment of the OBO series, a type collection based on a square. Every character is mapped to a 1x1 ratio which allows for horizontal and vertical settings alike. Or mixed, like crosswords. OBO Super is a soft and heavy serif design motivated by vintage lettering of the West. It’s a 70s Americana look, reminiscent of times when photography was shot on film and mixtapes were recorded on cassettes. If you are looking to brand a contemporary motorcycle apparel brand that dwells on the spirit of the American West, or if you need a bit of that diner grease for the look of a cool eatery, OBO Super has you covered. At the core OBO Super is a monospaced font. Every letter has the same width. But each letter is also as tall as it is wide—allowing for horizontal, vertical, or mixed layouts, like crosswords. For strictly horizontal typesetting there is the option to turn on kerning and swap-in alternative designs of a number of characters. This creates a cleaner texture across words and phrases. OBO Super is most comfortable in cool branding projects and display settings. A series of icons and arrows complete the extensive character set.
