Ecléctica doesn’t worry about labels. Is not a Humanist or Rational but isn’t a Transitional one either. While it refuses to be boxed into a type classification, it also nods to tradition. Abrupt and angular modulation, unexpected asymmetries in serifs– soft and pointed terminals and classical conventions in proportions might contradict each other, these are the details of the result of mashing up writing and type theories at its conception to become a typeface that let the text on the page breathe the tensions of its details. Its Italics present a contrast to the Roman version creating more dynamism by the angle while still maintaining cohesion upon closer inspection. As in every family, there’s a black sheep: This tilting version chose a controversial path: To disrupt its basic uppercase form by slashing the logic of its down strokes to create a running bridge in the main stems, it intends to provide a loud and robust voice to the group of letters.
