Emil Bertell is a Finnish typographer, graphic designer, and illustrator with an international reputation for his innovative work. Art has been an essential part of his life for most of its duration; he attended an arts school for kids before he was even able to read. His first exploration into the field of graphic design came during his high school years, an era that also inspired young Emil to teach himself the basics of typography.
Most kids his age would have rather focused on “important” teenage tasks like sleeping in late, but even back in those days, Emil was driven to succeed. He released his first font at the age of sixteen, later attending the University of Art & Design in Helsinki. His career as a graphic designer got its official start in 2007 and he’s enjoyed great success ever since.

Roster is the epitome of midcentury sign painting, featuring delicious curves and curls reminiscent of what one might expect to find on handwritten displays in a 1950s grocery store.
