Metro Sans: A Grotesk Sans Serif From Samuel Oakes - 1

Samuel Oakes is a multidisciplinary graphic designer with a wealth of experience in branding, video, photography, and type design. While he prefers a minimalist style, much of his work finds its influence in Samuel’s own travels.

His gift of photography has allowed him to make the most of his love of travel, enabling him to capture the essence of the cities he explores. He’s taken a particular interest in architecture as of late, an enthusiasm that has left its influence on his typography, as well.

One of his most recent releases, Metro Sans, actually came as a result of an examination of the Paris Metro system during a visit to the city.

Metro Sans is a modern sans serif that balances the architecture of both Swiss Neo-Grotesk and contemporary Geo-Grotesk, welded together to create a fresh sans serif inspired by transportation. Metro Sans is a fundamental type design that captures the essence of commuter travel, yet it carries itself with subtle warmth that welcomes weary travelers.

Metro Sans is a versatile type design available in Light, Book, Regular, Medium, Semi Bold, and Bold, with corresponding italics for each. It’s well suited for headlines, editorials, body text, advertising, displays, posters, signage, corporate communication, website design, e-publishing, logos, presentations, infographics, and product packaging.

Metro Sans provides clear legibility even in very small point, making it a good option for business cards, labels, tags, ticket stubs, ingredient lists, fine print on documents and digital legal text, and mobile applications.

Multilingual support for Metro Sans extends to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Catalan, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, Pan African Latin, and Igbo Onwu for global accessibility.
