Peter Silk is an experienced graphic designer and typographer based in London. After graduating from Portsmouth University with a degree in graphic design, he went on to work at a marketing and design agency before embracing the freelance life for himself.
While Peter works with a number of different studios throughout the UK, he also runs his own studio and creative agency. Play Dead Studio specializes in branding and identity by bringing together strategic thinking, idea generation, and beautiful design to relay a brand’s story. They develop unique solutions for every individual and brand, which enables Play Dead Studio to add a distinctly personal and human touch to every project they take on.
In addition to their bespoke designs, they also offer a number of retail fonts. One Peter Silk’s most recent releases is Figurati, an ultra condensed type design heavy with Italian charm. Figurati is like the runway model of the all-caps sans serif world; this font is so tall and lean, it’s got legs for days.
Figurati is a notable choice for logos, branding, and identity projects. Its sophisticated architecture carries a timeless, classic quality – one that will never truly go out of style, no matter how modern fashion changes over time. It’s a beautiful addition to titling, displays, signage, posters, logos, and book covers, and it even functions well in product packaging that needs a touch of upscale elegance. It’s an especially wonderful choice for wine and spirit packaging and logos.
Figurati adds a heavy dose of fashion wherever it roams, whether it’s an exclusive salon, a classy restaurant, a ritzy hotel, a private club, a countryside winery, or a local marketplace.
Figurati extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, and Pan African Latin languages for international accessibility.
Peter Silk currently offers four products through YouWorkForThem, including a playful script font, a serpentine display font, and an avant-garde sans serif. Given his body of work so far, we’re really looking forward to seeing more of his designs in the future.
