If you’re into abstract digital art, Chroma Supply should be among your top choices for high quality design resources. Chroma Supply was established by Jim LePage, an independent abstract artist with more than a decade and a half of experience with illustration and design.
While Chroma Supply features much of Jim’s own work, the studio also collaborates with a number of other artists to create new products and it openly seeks new submissions from would-be collaborators. Abstract art is something Jim is intensely passionate about and it’s a career he pursued after working in graphic design for a number of years.
At first, abstract art was just a creative outlet for Jim, one that he could explore entirely on his own terms. It was a place where his imagination could run free, where rules need not apply and where he could experiment to his heart’s content. Abstract art made him happy and through the process of its creation, he began to discover his own aesthetic preferences along the way. He eventually set up an online shop to make some of his abstract artwork available for purchase, and that shop eventually turned into Chroma Supply as it is today.
Occasionally, Jim will have a graphic design client request work done in a style similar to what they find in his abstract artwork, and it’s always a thrill for him. He has a particular fondness for projects related to music and some of his paintings have been used as part of album artwork and promotional materials for Feist’s album, Pleasure. The project included print ads and billboards throughout Los Angeles and Chicago.
Jim has an eye for color and texture. His abstract artwork is full of life, and Burst: 40 Abstract Textures is a prime example of it.
Burst is literally bursting with color and movement, an explosion of paint currents brought to life and frozen in suspended animation. The beauty of abstract art is that everyone sees what they want to see hidden within each image. Ocean waves. Flower petals. Rock formations. Curls of smoke. Wisps of air. Unexplored terrain. New worlds. Microscopic fibers. Each image inspires emotion that is as individual as the viewer. Passion. Fear. Curiosity. Uncertainty. Joy.
What do you see and feel when you look at Burst?
Burst: 40 Abstract Textures features 20 high resolution color .jpg files and 20 high resolution black and white .jpg files, each 6000x4000px in size at 300dpi. With Burst: 40 Abstract Textures, designers can customize each image through adjustment layers to achieve the exact look they’re going after. With such high resolution images, this set is ideal for both digital and print projects in large or small outputs. This collection also includes a set of bonus Photoshop brushes made using the textures in this series so designers can craft their own abstract works of art!
Burst: 40 Abstract Textures is a beautiful addition to album artwork, book covers, digital art prints, website design, posters, backgrounds, packaging, stationery, presentations, and any project that needs a three-dimensional eruption of paint and energy.
