Ellen Luff is a multidisciplinary creator who is passionate about all things design. Born in Watford, England, Ellen now spends her days traveling the world and working as a freelancer in a field that she adores.

Both in work and life, she craves adventure and its those dynamic experiences which feed her creative soul. Ellen feels that she was “born to get my hands dirty crafting and creating,” and she’s certainly avoided treading the beaten path to achieve that, blazing her own unique trail through the world.

Before going freelance, Ellen worked in advertising and she enjoyed a pretty impressive career, working with and designing for major global brands. As someone who is bursting with ideas and an unwavering drive to create, a 9 to 5 office job wasn’t really giving her everything she needed. These days, the entire world is Ellen’s home and she revels in chasing the sunset and living life on her own terms.

Ellen is a left-handed photographer, travel writer, copywriter, art director, and typographer. One of her most recent releases through YouWorkForThem is Hackney Hand-Painted SVG Font, a bold all-caps type design with a hyper-realistic brush texture.

Hackney Hand-Painted SVG Font features a tall and somewhat condensed architecture that stands with strength and authority. This type design carries a subtle urban edginess through its straight, no-nonsense brush strokes. Hackney Hand-Painted SVG Font is upfront and in-your-face, with little in the way of ornamentation or unnecessary flourish. It stands with an “it is what is, and I am what I am” attitude that will convey a feeling of confidence and fearlessness through any design.

SVG fonts are becoming more and more popular due to their ability to render incredibly realistic textures through transparency, particularly with painted effects. Hackney Hand-Painted SVG Font offers high definition “paint” strokes that look so real, you’ll be tempted to reach out and touch your computer screen just to be sure they’re truly digital.

If you’ve never used an SVG font before, you’ll want to check out this article to learn more about them. They’re really not any more difficult to work with than normal fonts, but they offer far more customization in your workflow.

Hackney Hand-Painted SVG Font is an entirely hand-painted sans serif that offers two alternatives for each letter. These alternate letters will allow you to mix things up and avoid duplicate letters to create a natural, hand-written effect in your work. This font also includes a set of 50 .png Extra Painted Strokes you can add to your designs to make them truly one-of-a-kind.

Hackney Hand-Painted SVG Font is beautifully suited to design projects of all kinds, including displays and signage, logos, product packaging, book covers, posters, album art, marketing materials, merchandise, apparel, website designs, social media imagery, greeting cards, labels, tags, and any design that needs a strong all-caps sans serif with a lot of texture.

The SVG format requires Photoshop CC 2017 or Illustrator CC 2018 (or newer) to work.

This font is also available in TTF format if you’re unable to use the SVG font. While it offers less brush texture and detailing, the TTF option works universally on all software and still carries some of the ruggedness of the original.

Hackney Hand-Painted SVG Font extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Baltic, Central European, and Pan African Latin for great accessibility to all European languages.
