Based in Bandung, Indonesia, Garisman Studio was established by Risman Ginarwan in 2013. The type foundry has released a wide variety of type designs that are sought-after by designers from around the world.
Risman is a type designer with a particularly well-honed talent for handcrafted script and display fonts. Much of his work carries a strong vintage aesthetic but a number of his type designs are modeled toward more trend-driven contemporary design projects. In that way, Risman’s typography is fluid in both theme and execution — never really adhering to one style, yet offering consistency through its visual appeal.
No matter what era Risman’s current projects are inspired by, we always look forward to seeing his work. One of his most recent releases, Meethlake, showcases his talent and passion for hand lettering with a retro flair.
Meethlake is a one-stop-shop for branding and identity projects that need a strong yet elegant vintage aesthetic. This complete branding bundle is packed with a handcrafted serif, sans serif, and script lettering. The idea was born from an inspiring vintage display, crafted to evoke a sensation of days long since passed.
Reminiscent of old-time storefront windows, Meethlake is perfect for design projects of all kinds, including magazine layouts and advertisements, high-end boutique displays, and everything in between. With five lettering variations, the possibilities are endless with this well-rounded family.
Meethlake Script is a connective cursive script that stands with a slightly condensed posture. Right-leaning characters are written with a quick and gender-neutral hand. Meethlake Script is expressive, carrying just the right amount of flourish. It offers contextual alternates, standard ligatures, stylistic alternates, and swash for greater design flexibility. Meethlake script is beautiful in invitations and greeting cards, displays, signage, advertising, product packaging, merchandise, apparel, and logo designs.
Meethlake One and Meethlake Three are all-caps sans serifs that are ideal for bold, eye-catching designs. Meethlake Three stands with a much wider stance than Meethlake One, yet they both speak with confidence in displays, signage, logos, product packaging, apparel, merchandise, advertising, headlines, subheadings, website designs, mobile applications, and social media imagery.
Meethlake Two is an all-caps serif with a subtle condensed architecture that makes the most of limited horizontal space. Its handcrafted design is particularly beautiful in beverage branding that needs an antiquated vibe. It’s perfect for product packaging and logos, displays, merchandise, advertisements, headlines, marketing materials, website designs, labels, and tags.
Rounding out the entire collection is Meethlake Slab, a tall and lean slab serif that recalls the typography of old mechanical typewriters. This all-caps letter set is beautiful on its own or as a secondary accent to any of its siblings.
The character sets in the Meethlake family work well together in multi-layered designs, and they each work well on their own as a design focal point. As a team, they’re perfect for branding and identity projects that need a solid family with a heavy vintage aesthetic, and they’re stellar for crafting labels, badges, menus, logos, titling, posters, and so much more.
Meethlake One, Two, Three, and Script extend multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Central European, and Pan African Latin languages. Meethlake Slab extends multilingual support to Basic Latin and Euro only.
