Based in Bali, Kadek Mahardika is a graphic designer and typographer who established Creative Media Lab, a studio and type foundry that creates contemporary and versatile retail type families for designers around the world.
Kadek’s work tends to carry a vintage romantic flair, preferring strong serif designs with expressive ornamentation and artistic elegance.
New to YouWorkForThem, one of Kadek’s most recent releases is Dorris, a “swirly font family” that is incredibly stylish with a warm retro vibe. Dorris is expressive, a groovy type family with drastically swirled serifs that are reminiscent of ocean wave illustrations.
This type design is playful yet dramatic, casual and sophisticated — all at once. Wind-swept curls give this type family an instantly beachy appearance, making it ideal for designs related to vacation travel to exotic locales. Dorris’ feminine style also makes it a good choice for designs in the fashion and beauty industries, organic cosmetics, fragrance branding and advertisements, and even women’s magazines and publications.
Dorris is available in Thin, UltraLight, Light, Regular, Medium, SemiBold, Bold, UltraBold, and Black for fantastic versatility. This type family shines in display applications, working beautifully on signage and in logos, product packaging, merchandise, apparel, marketing materials, advertising, headlines, publishing, website designs, social media imagery, stationery, titling, posters, and more. It’s a great choice for branding and identity projects that need a typeface with an undeniable sense of style.
For added design flexibility, Dorris includes a set of 54 ornamental elements that features swirls, flourishes, hearts, butterflies, and special characters.
Dorris provides additional features through OpenType, including fractions, ordinals, superscript, standard ligatures, and stylistic alternates. It extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, and Pan African Latin languages for designs intended for a global audience.
Kadek currently offers just two products through YouWorkForThem and we’re looking forward to seeing more of his designs in the future. Visit Kadek’s portfolio to take a look at his other type family, Losta Masta, and if you love working with expressive typography with ample flourish, you’re going to want to bookmark his portfolio so you don’t miss any of his upcoming releases!
