Releasing type designs into the retail market beginning in 2014, Connary Fagen is perhaps one of the most successful type designers in the YouWorkForThem family. Based in Salt Lake City, Connary’s work has consistently landed repeated spots in our top ten fonts of the year listings and one look at his work speaks to the reason why.

Before dedicating much of his time to typography, Connary previously worked in the graphic design industry. In those early days of his career, he’d often turn to himself to design character sets for projects whenever he was unable to find the perfect one in the retail marketplace.

Being a graphic designer, he strived to learn more about typography, studying the artistry and technique behind creating type designs that are aesthetically pleasing while also providing designers with plenty of flexibility in their work. After his first retail type design was released and met with positive reception, Connary continued to delve further into type design and has continued to release consistently stellar products.

Timelessness and functionality are hallmarks of his work. Connary’s type designs strike an aesthetic balance is relevant to contemporary design while also remaining cohesive and relatable to design trends however they may change over the years that follow its initial release.

That said, Connary is well known for going back and revamping his older designs, updating them to improve their functionality and providing those updates for free to those who had previously purchased his fonts.

Ongoing customer service and support is an important aspect of Connary’s work in type design, and it’s one that instills confidence in not only his return customers but potential new buyers.

One of Connary’s most recent releases through YouWorkForThem is Manifold Extended CF, a wide and sweeping variation on his classic Manifold font family.

While the Manifold family is “a utilitarian typeface inspired by the precision of a computer terminal,” Manifold Extended CF takes on a more cinematic theme, featuring elongated shapes that are both technical and elegant at the same time. Where Manifold offers just a hint of warmth, Manifold Extended CF carries a cooler tone overall, thanks to its wider stance and extended structure.

This type design features upper and lowercase characters with a high x-height, providing excellent legibility and a strong dramatic flair — particularly when used in all caps. Manifold Extended CF is available in Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Demi Bold, Bold, Extra Bold, and Heavy, with corresponding italics for each weight.

The complete family is beautifully suited to logo designs, titling, user interfaces, and short blocks of text, but it also works well in advertising layouts, headlines and subheadings, website designs, mobile applications, posters, marketing materials, book covers, album artwork and more. Manifold CF is a great choice for branding and identity projects that need a sleek and cinematic sans serif on center stage.

This type family provides additional flexibility through OpenType, including fractions, standard ligatures, ordinals, superscript, and tabular figures. It extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Catalan, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, Pan African Latin, Dutch, Basic Greek, and Basic Cyrillic for design projects intended for a global audience.

Right now through October 31, 2020, Manifold Extended CF is on sale for 65% off of its regular price so it’s a fantastic time to add this font family to your collection!
