His love for letter design began with an attraction to graffiti as a child. Through his enjoyment of rap and hip-hop music, Andrei was drawn into a world that was heavily represented by breakdancing and graffiti. When he immersed himself in rap magazines, the pages which featured graffiti artwork fascinated him the most, inspiring Andrei to create his own versions on paper and write his name in a similar artistic style.

Andrei considers himself to be largely self-taught, in spite of obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design. He lives to experiment and develop unique typefaces, and prefers to begin with pencil and paper. The flow of the letters themselves, along with the balance achieved through the shapes they create together, create a serendipitous phenomenon that allows Andrei to conjure just the right emotion through each design he creates.

Calligraphy plays a key role in Andrei’s work, an artistic influence evident in his contemporary script, Kitsuné Font. With flowing, monoline lettering, the elaborate flourishes of Kitsuné make it a perfect font choice for wedding invitations and flyers that advertise upscale events. This elegant letter set is absolutely lovely on holiday designs, particularly Christmas cards, but would also serve quite well on any card or letter design that requires a touch of grace and poise, including birthday cards, anniversary wishes, heart-felt sympathy notes, and personalized love letters.

Fashion magazines and advertisements can greatly benefit from Kitsuné, as its flowing, artistic lines are reminiscent of contemporary fashion design. Kitsuné evokes a whimsical style with its effortless sophistication and elegance, yet it could easily appear rather casual if used in tandem with more subtle typefaces—sort of like wearing stiletto heels with faded jeans, or combat boots with a frilly summer dress. The evolution of modern fashion feeds itself on unexpected pairings like these, making the inclusion of Kitsuné in any photographic fashion spread or women’s clothing advertisement a foregone conclusion.

Kitsuné offers Latin accents, alternates and ligatures, and extensive punctuation that gives designers plenty of options to work with.

Kitsuné also includes a collection of graphic glyphs, ideal for holiday-themed graphic designs including snowflakes, a diamond, and a star for Christmas and other winter holidays. The heart glyph is a sweet figure, ideal for Valentine’s Day cards, graphics; even printed love notes. Kitsuné offers a corner graphic with flourishing shapes that will put an elegant finishing touch along any decorative border.

This impressive character set includes what Andrei calls “the happy fox” glyph, accessed by combining the shift and tilde/accent keys on a standard keyboard. This adorable little guy is an especially fitting mascot because “kitsuné” is the Japanese word for “fox,” the font’s namesake.

Kitsuné is available in Desktop OpenType, WebFont, ePub, and Mobile app purchasing options to suit every designer’s needs.
