Jeremy Vessey is a type designer, graphic designer, and photographer with a knack for crafting products that are sought by graphic designers around the world. His work has been used by notable companies that include Kohl’s, John St., and Google, just to name a few.
Jeremy launched his studio, Hustle Supply Co., back in 2013 and it’s gone on to enjoy great success ever since. Much of that is owed to his strong work ethic and his ability to discern what products will sell in a global marketplace. When it comes to his personal projects, Jeremy feels that he is his “own best customer,” meaning that once he figures out what he himself would want, that guides him toward what he should create next.
It’s been an incredibly wise method of production so far, and it continually leads Jeremy to follow one great idea after another. His studio focuses on typography and graphic templates, and he’s carved out a niche for himself in an international marketplace. With every new product he creates, Jeremy tries to learn something new so he’s constantly learning and further honing his own skill set. He does his best work in the wee hours of the night after the needs of the day have been met and the world is quiet. He might pace the floor, he might noodle on his guitar for a bit, but when his defenses are down, the ideas come and he simply runs with them.
Jeremy’s products take anywhere from eight to 24 hours to create, although those hours are not necessarily spent all at once. Like many designers, Jeremy takes time to mentally develop a product before sitting down to the computer to actually bring it to life. He spends a lot of time thinking about what products will sell, and why they will sell, because he considers much of his work as passive income. A product might take hours to create initially, but if it’s something that will sell in the beginning, it will continue to do so for years after it’s released. Jeremy has a good sense for what other designers are seeking because ultimately, he creates things that he would use himself.
All of this brilliant work stems from a man who didn’t even plan on going into the field of typography and graphic design. As a youth, Jeremy liked to draw, but he found his way into music and at first, he planned to pursue things that included audio engineering and film school. Instead, he enrolled to become a programmer. After a few months, he discovered that he rather preferred the designing part of website development so he eventually dropped out to enroll in the graphic design program. Still, his love for typography and logo design didn’t emerge until after he graduated. Life has a way of leading us to discover the things we were meant to do, and for Jeremy, his own winding road led him to exactly where he needed to be.
His studio, Hustle Supply Co., packs its products with value, giving designers the most bang for their bucks. One of its more recent releases is The Artisan Collection, a designer’s dream bundle of vintage goodies. Jeremy’s penchant for hand-lettered design shines in this collection of fonts, logo templates, and vintage badge shapes.
The Artisan Collection includes four font families for a total of 11 fonts. Barley Script is script font much like what you’d find stamped on the label of your favorite craft brew. Its lettering is narrow and warm, and it’s available in both a clean or textured finish. Barley Script also includes a number of alternate characters and swashes to play with.
Heinberg is an all-caps sans serif typeface that offers its lettering in Clean, Rounded, and Textured effects to suit design projects of all kinds. It’s a brawny contender for any project that needs a bold letter set to make a strong statement.
Holtzman is a condensed small caps font that works well on its own or as a secondary accent to any of the other three fonts in the Artisan Collection. Holtzman is also available in Clean, Rounded, and Textured to match.
Trade Supply is a classic serif type design with condensed capital letters. Trade Supply is timeless and familiar in its architecture, working well in projects that wish to recall days gone by. Like Holtzman and Heinberg, Trade Supply is available in Clean, Rounded, and Textured.
The Artisan Collection also includes 16 stellar logo templates for Adobe Illustrator. These templates make it a snap to craft beautiful logos and label designs for products that need a heavy dose of vintage flair.
To round out this brilliant collection, Jeremy has also included an .EPS file with 20 badge shapes. These can be used alongside the logo templates, or used on their own in a myriad of design projects. They’re fantastic for just about anything, including labels, stickers, stationery, logos, advertisements, website designs, mobile applications, merchandise, apparel, and so much more.
The Artisan Collection from Hustle Supply Co. is a must-have product for any designer who loves working on projects with a vintage theme. With fonts, logo templates, and badge shapes all bundled together into one awesome collection, you’re getting a TON of bang for your buck.
Hustle Supply Co. currently offers almost 40 products through YouWorkForThem, a variety of handcrafted scripts, sans serifs, serifs, and display fonts to suit an incredible variety of design projects.
