A Contemporary Classic Serif From Wisit Po: Sri Sury Wongse - 1

Releasing work under the name Wisit Po, Wisit Potiwat is an experienced typographer and graphic designer in Bangkok. Beyond his own design projects and font releases, he gives university lectures on the subjects of graphic and information design to the next generation of designers.

Wisit’s background in branding greatly lends itself to his typography, in that he crafts a wide range of type designs in a variety of styles to suit the needs of a contemporary design market. One thing that really sets Wisit’s typography apart from all the rest, however, is his multilingual support for the Thai language. Those who regularly design for a Thai audience are often hard-pressed to find fonts that will provide them with Thai script. Wisit Po is one typographer that graphic designers can count on when it comes to Thai language support.

One of his more recent releases is Sri Sury Wongse, a sophisticated serif type design that was inspired by a mix of Thai modern and Latin serif styles. When he set out to design this letter set, Wisit wanted to “bring a bit of modernism to serif fonts by working on the curves of classical serif fonts,” a goal he certainly achieved with this type design.

Sri Sury Wongse is a contemporary classic, featuring elegant curves and beautiful serifs that accentuate its legibility. This type design is a gorgeous addition to publishing projects, yet it works well in a corporate setting, too.

Available in Regular, Italic, Bold, and Heavy, Sri Sury Wongse is a great choice for headlines, editorials, titling, displays, signage, advertisements, letterhead, logos, corporate communications, magazines, branding, packaging, and presentations.

Sri Sury Wongse’s standard ligatures are especially well crafted. This type design extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Pan African Latin, and Thai for thorough accessibility.
