Bw Aleta Is A Geometric Sans That Offers Two Distinctive Moods - 1

Based in Zaragoza, Spain, Alberto Romanos is a celebrated and accomplished type designer with an intrinsic knowledge of good type, branding, and identity. In fact, when he established his foundry, Branding With Type, in 2014, his goal was to create a foundry that centers on exactly what it says it does: branding with type.

Alberto recognizes the role every font plays in a given design, and he also understands just how important (and sometimes difficult) it is to stand out from the crowd while remaining relevant. A good type design communicates its message clearly while also carrying a unique personality that’s individually tailored to its brand. Branding With Type specializes in bespoke lettering, branding services, type customization, and retail fonts, and it has enjoyed an immense amount of success over the years.

Before establishing his own foundry, Alberto worked with some of the biggest branding agencies in the world. Alberto’s own client list is impressive, including international corporations that include BP, Sony Ericsson, Barclays, Wrigleys, British Airways, and Renault – just to name a few.

For Alberto, a typeface is “the perfect way to simultaneously convey information and personality.” Any branding project he takes on begins with the designing of a new typographic style that captures the essence of the company or individual it will represent. Likewise, his retail type designs are masterfully crafted, versatile, and well suited to design applications of all kinds.

One of his most recent releases through Branding With Type is Bw Aleta, “a multi-purpose geometric sans with humanist traits.” Bw Aleta features wide proportions with a decidedly geometric architecture. Alberto handled the design of its structure through straightforward drawing and modulation on selected areas to create a contemporary character set with a sharp personality.

Bw Aleta offers two separate subfamilies to accommodate any type of project. Bw Aleta No. 10 is sharper and more angular with a keen confidence, while No. 20 is a little more subdued and quieter with more of a human touch. This workhorse type family offers each style in Hairline, Thin, ExtraLight, Light, Regular, Medium, Bold, ExtraBold, and Black, with corresponding italics for each. Bw Aleta’s range of weights makes it a perfect choice for projects of all kinds, including displays and signage, headlines, editorials, publishing, website designs, letterhead, corporate communications, white papers, infographics, presentations, logos, product packaging and inserts, labels, and mobile applications. It’s also at home in branding and identity projects that require design cohesion across different media types and sizes.

Bw Aleta offers OpenType features that include numerators, denominators, fractions, standard ligatures, and oldstyle figures for greater flexibility. Its multilingual support extends to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, Pan African Latin, Dutch, and Basic Greek for graphic design projects aimed at a global marketplace.

Branding With Type currently offers 18 products through YouWorkForThem, a range of stellar serifs, slab serifs, sans serifs, and display fonts for design projects of all kinds.
