Based in Bandung, Indonesia, Akbar Rohmanto is a graphic designer, illustrator, and typographer. The co-founder of Harmlessness Type Co. and a self-described “visual maker,” Akbar is brand new to YouWorkForThem and we’re excited to share his first release, Adlinnaka Sans!

This sans serif family was designed to be fair and neutral in tone. In fact, “adlinnaka” means impartial – to be balanced and unbiased. “Adlinnaka is a concept of dualism, describing how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world,” Akbar said. As it is in the universe, so it must be in graphic design – everything needs to be balanced.

Adlinnaka Sans features geometric sans serif architecture with sharp details, drawn with a humanist touch. This superfamily is available in three widths (Normal, Condensed, and Expanded) in nine weights that range from Thin to Black with corresponding italics for each. With a total of 54 fonts on hand, Adlinnaka is ideal for design projects of all kinds. Its high x-height improves its legibility, even in small point, giving the viewer a comfortable reading experience for both short blocks of text and long-form publishing.

The range of weights and widths make Adlinnaka Sans well suited to everything from headlines and editorials to displays, signage, logos, website designs, body text, product packaging and informational inserts, corporate communications, white papers, letterhead, infographics, and mobile applications. Its legibility also makes it perfect for business cards, labels, and fine print. With so many variations to choose from, Adlinnaka Sans is ideal for branding and identity projects that require design cohesion across multiple media types and sizes.

Adlinnaka Sans’ versatility doesn’t stop with its basic letter sets. It offers extensive functionality through numerous OpenType features that include case sensitive forms, discretionary ligatures, standard ligatures, fractions, ordinals, subscript, superscript, oldstyle figures, tabular figures, and stylistic alternates. It extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, Pan African Latin, and Basic Greek for exceptionally far-reaching global accessibility.

As Adlinnaka Sans is Akbar’s first product available through YouWorkForThem, we’re really looking forward to seeing more of his work in the future. Visit his portfolio so you can bookmark it and watch for new releases as they arrive!
