We love putting the spotlight on new and emerging typographers and we’re excited to introduce Stuart Hazley, a type designer based in Northern Ireland!

Stuart’s first release through YouWorkForThem is Ostent, a sans serif font family that was inspired by DIN typefaces. DIN, also known as Deutsches Institut für Normung (German Institute for Standardization in English), was a type style that became the standard for everything from street signs to traffic signs, license plates, technical documentation, and even house numbers because of its clean architecture and high legibility.

Ostent was specifically modeled after DIN 1451, which was designed in 1936 for use in railway signage and road signs and actually remained in use for license plates in Germany until the mid-1990s. Designed to be uncomplicated and contemporary, Ostent offers incredible clarity and legibility – even in small point.

Speaking with a neutral tone and offered in three weights (Light, Regular, and Heavy), this type design works well in a wide variety of print and digital applications, including headlines, editorials, publishing, website designs, displays, signage, logos, letterhead, corporate communications, white papers, infographics, product packaging and informational inserts, labels, tags, business cards, and mobile applications.

Ostent extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, and Pan African Latin for design projects aimed at a global audience.

Stuart Hazley currently offers just one product through YouWorkForThem but we’re really looking forward to seeing what he releases in the future! Visit his portfolio so you can bookmark it and check back for new additions as they arrive!
