Poligon: A New and Dynamic Sans Serif From Letter Omega
Established by Doni Sukma in 2016, Letter Omega is a studio and foundry based in Jakarta. Letter Omega focuses on crafting contemporary type designs that are highly versatile and affordable for graphic designers around the world.
When it comes to type design, Doni takes a multilingual approach to his work, understanding that designers from around the world will be using his products for their work. His designs also typically provide extensive flexibility through OpenType, features that grant even more versatility in any designer’s workflow.
While Letter Omega’s type designs feature contemporary architecture, they also carry unexpected detailing that adds a punch of individuality. One of their most recent releases is Poligon, a geometric sans serif that was inspired by a combination of Futura and Avant Garde.
Poligon was constructed from circles and straight lines, a modern sans serif that carries an unexpected playfulness. A “humanistic geometric grotesk with unique details,” Poligon offers stellar legibility in designs both large and small. It speaks with a no-nonsense neutral tone, making it great for corporate correspondence.
This dynamic family is available in Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Semi Bold, Bold, Extra Bold, and Black, with corresponding italics for each.
Each weight also offers a Link variant that links each letter with horizontal lines for a more futuristic and technologically-driven appearance. This variant was developed from Poligon’s standard form and features bottom and top lines that connect to one another. The contextual alternates for this style can be used to open and close the spaces.
The range of weights and styles available with the Poligon family make it well suited to a wide variety of design projects that include displays, signage, headlines, subheadings, editorials, logos, advertising, product packaging, merchandise, website designs, mobile applications, marketing materials, publishing, album art, posters, labels, tags, infographics, and social media imagery.
Poligon offers additional versatility through OpenType features that include case sensitive forms, discretionary ligatures, standard ligatures, fractions, ordinals, subscript, superscript, tabular figures, and stylistic alternates. It extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Catalan, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, Pan African Latin, and Basic Greek for exceptionally far-reaching global accessibility.
Right now through November 30, 2019, Poligon is on sale for 70% off of its regular price so it’s a great time to add this one to your font collection!
