Based in Thailand, Chatnarong Jingsuphatada is a graphic designer who began to develop his talents as a typographer while he was working in the field of graphic design. Many (if not most) designers understand the struggle of finding the “perfect” font for a given project, a problem that Chatnarong often faced, himself. His solution was elegant in its simplicity — he began making his own from scratch.
Chatnarong was well versed in typography from an aesthetic standpoint, having spent plenty of hours searching through design catalogs. Between that activity and working in graphic design, he was acutely aware of how designers use typography in their workflows. With a little practice and time dedicated to learning the mechanics of designing type, he eventually began crafting type families for the retail marketplace.
Chatnarong first established Superstore Font Foundry, an online outlet for his own type designs. Sometime later, he started releasing type designs under his personal foundry label Typesketchbook, offering a wide variety of handcrafted scripts, serifs, sans serifs, and display fonts.
His goal through Typesketchbook is to consistently offer premium type designs that are visually appealing and that offer extensive features and multilingual support.
One of his most recent releases through YouWorkForThem is Grold Rounded, a softer and more approachable version of its predecessor, Grold. “Designed to be more friendly,” Grold Rounded features rounded corners and terminals, adding a subtle warmth to every message it conveys.
Grold Rounded is a geometric sans serif that speaks with clarity, offering stellar legibility even in small point. For designs that need to maximize limited horizontal space, Grold Rounded Slim is a slightly-condensed variant that gives designers more flexibility in those tighter visual constraints.
Grold Rounded and Gold Rounded Slim are available in Thin, ExtraLight, Light, SemiLight, Regular, Medium, Bold, ExtraBold, Black, and ExtraBlack, with corresponding italics for each.
