Based in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, MadeType is a digital type foundry and studio owned and operated by Denis Schepin and Maxim Schepin. Their work puts an emphasis on branding and identity, although they are well suited to design projects of all kinds. Every single one of their type designs is built to be versatile and tends to carry a very modern aesthetic.
One of their most recent releases is MADE Gentle, a soft and modern serif that speaks with a friendly voice and carries an air of warmth to every design it graces.
MADE Gentle lives up to its name, conveying every message with a gentle and amenable tone. Inspired by Cooper Black, this type design carries a similar architecture found in the almost century-old original: an extra bold weight with a super soft side.
While Cooper Black was released in 1922, it grew to become synonymous with the designs of the late 60s and early 70s after being used in the album artwork and visual media of the era. For that reason, MADE Gentle is a contemporary yet classic serif design that carries those same subtle retro hints as the typeface that inspired its creation.
Available in one weight, MADE Gentle gets warmer as it gets larger, working beautifully in everything from displays to signage, logo design, book covers, album artwork, marketing materials, product packaging, merchandise, apparel, website designs, posters, titling, and more. It’s well suited to branding and identity projects that need an approachable and easygoing type design at the helm.
MADE Gentle extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Catalan, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Pan African Latin, Dutch, and Afrikaans for design projects intended for an international audience.
MadeType currently offers 22 products through YouWorkForThem, providing a range of sans, serifs, scripts, and display fonts to suit a variety of design projects and themes.
