Based in Argentina, Sudtipos is a foundry and type collective established by four designers in 2002. Diego Giaccone, Claudio Pousada, Alejandro Paul, and Ariel Garofalo each brought with them a wealth of mastery in their respective disciplines, which were joined together to provide Sudtipos with a broad and rock-solid foundation to grow from.

The foundry and studio designs typefaces for just about any kind of visual design project you can imagine and they’ve worked with a number of notable international corporations along the way, including Levi’s, The New York Times, The History Channel, and Coca-Cola, to name a few. The foundry has received numerous awards from organizations that include Tipos Latinos, Type Directors Club, and Communication Arts — among others.

With Diego’s skills in package design and branding, Ariel and Alejandro’s mastery of design, art direction, and typography, and Claudio’s skill in multimedia and visual communication, the Sudtipos foundry pours an unmatched amount of expertise into every project it takes on.

While the foundry crafts bespoke type designs for its direct clientele, it also designs retail typefaces for the international graphic design landscape as a whole. The foundry has collaborated with a number of typographers over the years to conceptualize and create new typefaces that provide graphic designers with exactly what they need for their projects.

While nearly two decades have passed since Sudtipos opened its doors, its vision has always remained crystal clear: “to translate the aesthetics of culture and commerce into technically sophisticated typefaces that help creative professionals create work that impresses clients, attracts customers, and builds brands.

One of their most recent releases through YouWorkForThem is Ansage, an extremely versatile and contemporary sans serif that was built with flexibility in mind.

Ansage grew from studies on the traditional gothic fonts dating back from the nineteenth century. As a concept, this type design was developed through constant transformations in form, exploring both compact and robust structures along the way. The end result of Ansage’s design culminated in large x-height, small ascenders and descenders, and open terminals that become more expressive as the font grows in weight.

And grow, it does — Ansage is available in three distinct widths: Condensed, Regular, and Expanded. Each width is offered in ten weights that include Hairline, Thin, Light, XLight, Regular, Medium, SemiBold, Bold, XBold, and Black, with corresponding italics for each.

With a total of 60 unique fonts across such a wide range of weights and styles, this type family is ideal for just about any design project, including displays and signage, headlines, editorials, body copy, advertising, publishing applications, logos, letterhead, corporate communications, white papers, infographics, presentations, product packaging and informational inserts, marketing materials, apparel, merchandise, and mobile applications.

Ansage is stellar in branding and identity projects that need fluid design cohesion across multiple media types and sizes.

If you love the complete range of typefaces in this family, Ansage is offered as a Variable font! (If you’re not entirely sure whether or not your platform supports variable fonts yet, you can take a look at the full list of supported software and browsers right here.

Ansage is loaded with additional features through OpenType for greater versatility, offering case sensitive forms, fractions, discretionary ligatures, standard ligatures, ordinals, scientific inferiors, subscript, superscript, slashed zero, oldstyle figures, tabular figures, and stylistic alternates. It extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Catalan, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, Pan African Latin, Dutch, Afrikaans, and Basic Greek for fantastic global accessibility.

Sudtipos currently offers more than 145 products through YouWorkForThem, providing an array of serifs, sans serifs, script designs, and display fonts to suit a variety of design projects.
