Founded in Essen, Germany, Cape Arcona Type Foundry was established in 2002 by designers Stefan Claudius and Thomas Schostok. Named after the picturesque Cape Arkona on the isle of Rügen, the independent type foundry has been crafting digital typefaces for nearly 20 years.

Cape Arcona Type Foundry got its start by promoting fonts that were designed for the PDF magazine, “The Beast.” Over the years that have passed since those early days, the foundry has expanded to provide logo design and bespoke type designs for private clientele as well as retail fonts for the graphic design world at large.

Known for their unique approach to design, Cape Arcona Type Foundry is drawn toward innovative and non-conformist design. “This is the kind of work we love,” they explained, “thinking beyond the ordinary, imagining better worlds and better fonts.”

One of their most recent releases through YouWorkForThem is CA CapeRock, a type design that was originally released in 2007. Remastered, expanded, and reissued, CA CapeRock is a display typeface inspired by fat Clarendon architecture. This family’s upgrades include the addition of italic characters, expanded language support, and improved kerning.

Reminiscent of wood type, this type design carries a bold and distinctive style that makes it perfect for design projects that need a typeface with a strong display aesthetic. Its dense letterforms speak with confidence, making a statement wherever they’re applied.

Available in Regular and Italic, CA CapeRock is particularly well suited to headline use, along with displays and signage, advertising, logo design, product packaging, merchandise, apparel, book covers, album artwork, posters, promotional materials, website banners, and social media imagery.

CA CapeRock provides plenty of additional versatility through OpenType, including case sensitive forms, fractions, discretionary ligatures, standard ligatures, ordinals, superscript, slashed zero, stylistic alternates, and swash for incredible design flexibility. It extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Catalan, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, and Pan African Latin for designs aimed at an international audience.

Cape Arcona currently offers 21 products through YouWorkForThem, including type designs that carry contemporary and vintage aesthetics for an incredibly large variety of design projects.
