Based in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, Dirtyline Studio is a type design and lettering studio that was established in 2015. Founded by Hendra Maulia, a talented graphic designer and typographer with a wealth of industry experience, Dirtyline Studio features a team of multidisciplinary designers who share the same mission: to create fresh and unique type families and design tools for an ever-growing international marketplace.
Everyone on the team has different tastes when it comes to design — they are influenced daily by what they see, hear, and feel. Dirtyline Studio enables each designer on its team to “carry out new experiments and develop the skills they have,” which lends to the fresh and innovative type designs released by the studio.
Offering everything from elegant serifs to expressive brush scripts, Dirtyline Studio provides an array of type families to suit just about any design project you can imagine.
One of our favorite designs of theirs is Casta, a superfamily of 54 contemporary serif fonts with a strong contrast that makes an impressive statement in displays, yet remains easily legible in its lighter text weights.
Featuring sharp triangular serifs, Casta carries “distinctive letter shapes” that carry a modern elegance that’s ideal for high fashion, magazine layouts and advertising, upscale boutique branding, luxurious product packaging, and so much more.

Casta provides additional versatility through OpenType, including case-sensitive forms, fractions, discretionary and standard ligatures, ordinals, superscript, and stylistic alternates. It extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Catalan, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, Pan African Latin, Dutch, Afrikaans, Latin Ligatures, and Basic Greek for design projects intended for an international audience.
