Explore Uncharted Territory with Terrain – Abstract 3D Landscapes - 1

Jim LePage is an abstract artist and graphic designer whose career in the field actually began after he left his previous career as a preschool teacher. Around 2003, Jim was anxious for a change but unsure of what exactly that would entail. His wife made the suggestion that he should go back to college, and even though he had never been particularly drawn to art, he enrolled in a graphic design program.

“I was not that kid who was always drawing,” Jim explained, “Other than playing in a couple bands, I didn’t have much experience creating art.” It might not have seemed a natural transition, particularly for a man who had never even owned a computer, but it ended up shaping the course of his entire career. He found he possessed some actual talent after all, and he’s spent years honing his craft since then.

Abstract painting was something he started exploring in 2012. Up until that point, his work in the field of graphic design was completely driven by the wants and needs of each client he took on. Abstract artwork gave him the opportunity to explore his own creativity to its fullest, completely free of any rules or limitations set by a client or a boss. It also gave him room to experiment and really learn more about his own preferences and artistic style.

He’s seen a great amount of success so far, even having some of his paintings featured in album artwork and promotional materials for one of Feist’s albums. That led to his work being shown in both print ads and massive billboards throughout Chicago and Los Angeles. “I’m a huge fan of hers and have really been wanting to get more into the world of album art, so it was pretty amazing to see that all come together,” he told us.

Jim’s work is passionate and unbridled, featuring bold vivid colors and patterns, shapes and forms that play together harmoniously. A three-dimensional symphony of light and shadow, Jim’s work is mesmerizing, practically jumping off of the page.

One of his more recent releases through Chroma Supply is Terrain – Abstract 3D Landscapes. If you’re looking to create a truly otherworldly atmosphere in your work, Terrain – Abstract 3D Landscapes is a beautiful way to incorporate that effect. The textures in this series are so real, you’ll want to reach out and touch them.

This collection features 12 abstract three-dimensional landscape textures that are based on original abstract paintings. This series is absolutely stunning and a work of art in its own right, but they’re a beautiful addition to everything from website designs, backgrounds, wallpapers, digital art collage, book covers, album artwork, posters, icons, and everything in between. The beauty of this collection is that you can use the high resolution images in full size or crop them to bring the focus to the incredible macro details.

Through Photoshop, you can also customize the look and feel by tweaking adjustment layers like color balance, hue/saturation, or invert for a unique finished effect. Terrain – Abstract 3D Landscapes includes a Variation Builder PSD Template which will enable you to further tweak the images in this collection using pre-built adjustments.

These are live filters and effects that can be fine tuned to the needs of your specific project. The Variation Builder PSD Template offers preset but editable adjustment layers, layer styles, and smart filters for applying monotone effects, duotone effects, tinting, color boost and more.

Along with the images in this collection, Terrain – Abstract 3D Landscapes also includes a set of Photoshop brushes made from the textures so you can have a blast building and creating your own custom abstract textures!

Terrain – Abstract 3D Landscapes offers 12 RGB colorspace files in .jpg format, each 5000x5000px in size at 300 dpi, making them perfect for both digital and print design projects.
