Mii Lab is an independent design studio that focuses on graphic design and illustrative elements that embrace a linocut technique adapted for digital applications. By combining linocut printmaking methods with digital design, Mii Lab has built a portfolio of graphic collections that are rich in texture and personality.
The process is a painstaking one, as linocut requires creating a revers and raised print surface to which ink is applied before being pressed against a paper surface to render an image. Such illustrations are digitized and optimized for use in design software, enabling graphic designers to incorporate handcrafted linocut elements without any of the manual labor.
One of Mii Lab’s most recent releases through YouWorkForThem is Botanicum, a collection of leaf and berry illustrations created using a linocut technique. Each element in this series was meticulously drawn, carved, and printed by hand before being digitized to vector .eps format.
The illustrations in Botanicum look like those found in vintage botanical books, featuring a slightly distressed texture and hand-drawn style that’s updated with a modern twist. The images in this collection are perfect for a wide variety of design projects, including stationery and greeting cards, invitations, event programs, posters, social media imagery, website designs and backgrounds, wallpaper, labels, tags, gift wrap and bags, product packaging, merchandise, apparel, textile designs, decor accents, publishing applications, and even digital art collage.
Botanicum includes 31 high-resolution black and white vector illustrations in one .eps file, along with those same illustrations in full color. This collection also provides nine pre-made templates (font not included) in vector .eps format featuring a 300 dpi resolution that’s ideal for print and digital projects. Botanicum includes seven seamless patterns with transparent backgrounds in .eps format.
Every illustration in this collection can be easily edited, however, we recommend using them with appropriate vector editing software for best results.
Mii Lab currently offers eight products through YouWorkForThem, including other botanical-themed linocut textures, abstract elements, and everyday objects from both home and garden.
