CozyFonts (Tom Nikosey) is back with a new release this month, sending us the fresh, retro and heavy hitting Posterface. Here is a little bit of what he had to say about his new release:
Posterface Family was created by California Graphic Designer/Illustrator Tom Nikosey for his CozyFonts Foundry in November 2014. I create posters, logos, banners, labels and packaging for all industries from Sports to Entertainment, from Advertising to Consumer Products. I needed a versatile font family to turn to when I wanted strong, legible titles when I was limited by horizontal dimensions.
I began creating ‘Posterface’ as a result of needing a poster-style typeface that would fill my needs that had a square serif with visually even weighted vertical strokes. The character or personality is evident when the h,m,n,& r glyphs are repeated and e, o, s glyphs are employed. The lower and Upper case Xx’s are unique to this font.
The Italic, Condensed and Extended versions followed to this set. Once those were completed I felt compelled to add this family with Posterface Sans & Posterface Sans Condensed. During the design process of these extra versions I began to notice they possessed their own personalities yet belonged to the same overall family.
It appears The Posterface Family possesses a combination of Vintage & Industrial feel when set. This font is very legible and plays well with drop shadows and outlines.
