“To improve is to change,” as Winston Churchill once said, and boy howdy, did we ever in 2014. Showcasing this is the Top Ten list, where only one font (the ever-popular YWFT Hannah) remained from the 2013 list, while the other nine were newcomers. This represents the largest amount of changes in YWFT Top Ten history!
As always the ranking is based strictly on sales.
1. Eveleth
Taking both gold and silver in the two top spots was the great Yellow Design Studio, with the top spot going to this charmingly vintage letterpress family.
2. Gist
Yellow’s second-place offering was this inline slab serif, which somehow manages to be both retro and modern at the same time.
3. Glober
The gorgeous Glober from fontfabric takes home the bronze, with 18 weights of pure sans-serif glory.
4. YWFT Hannah
What can we say about our own in-house Little Engine That Could, which moves up two spots and remains on the list for the 4th year in a row.
5. Gin
Another vintage display typeface, inspired by classic liquor brands, comes in at number five, from Fort Foundry out of Athens, GA.
6. Nexa Rust
This multifaceted font system consists of font sub-families Sans, Slab, Script, Handmade and Extras, making for great value and versatility.
7. Aspira
This is perhaps the best value on the entire list, being a superfamily of 112 styles for one low price, making for a per-font price of less than $3.50!
8. Showcase
From the awesome LatinoType, this handmade font was inspired by a pen that writes different typefaces and ornaments.
9. Libertad
Coming in the penultimate place is this sans-serif that mixes humanist and grotesk models, with seven weights each with 800+ characters.
10. Orev
And finally, Typesketchbook’s Orev, a structured sans-serif font design that contains 9 weights, with a smooth, rounded flow.
