Based in the seaside city of Leça da Palmeira, Portugal, Luís Bandovas is a freelance graphic designer who is passionate about type design and lettering. After studying his craft at Escola Superior de Artes e Design (ESAD) Matosinhos, Luís founded his own creative studio, Satori.

When it comes to his favorite design style, Luís has a bit of a “crush” on the simplicity of the Swiss style, grotesque typefaces, and the modernism of the 1960s. Having worked in the field of graphic design for a number of years, Luís is well versed in what other graphic designers need and want in a type design and he strives to provide type families that provide as much versatility as possible.

His very first typeface, BoosterFY, was co-created with FontYou back in 2013. Over the past seven years, he’s worked on a number of type families and recently began offering his own retail fonts through YouWorkForThem.

One of Luís’ most recent releases through YouWorkForThem is Scansky, a “carefully crafted contemporary modern sans serif typeface.” Scansky is a clean and highly-legible type family with a friendly corporate vibe: if this type family was a company, it would totally favor casual Fridays and Happy Hour get-togethers.

Scansky speaks with a neutral tone, conveying every message with poise and confidence. Its sophisticated, modern architecture is highly adaptable to both display and body copy use, making it a versatile sans serif family to have on hand.

Providing character sets in Regular and Condensed widths, Scansky is available in Thin, ExtraLight, Light, Regular, SemiBold, Bold, and Black, with corresponding italics for each. The range of widths and weights make the entire family beautifully suited to everything from headlines and editorials to body copy, print and digital publishing, advertising, signage, displays, logo designs, product packaging and informational inserts, marketing materials, letterhead, corporate communications, white papers, infographics, presentations, website designs, and mobile applications.

Scansky is a fantastic choice for branding and identity projects that require fluid design cohesion across multiple media channels and campaigns.

Additional flexibility is made possible through OpenType, including case sensitive forms, fractions, standard ligatures, ordinals, subscript, superscript, scientific inferiors, and stylistic alternates. Scansky extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Catalan, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, Pan African Latin, Dutch, Afrikaans, and Basic Greek for design projects intended for an international audience.
