Yinon Ezra is a graphic designer and typographer from Israel, whose exposure to art began at a very early age. He grew up in a house that was filled with art and explored creativity, being the son of an artist and painter. Creating artwork was just a part of his daily routine, spending hours upon hours in his mother’s home art studio during his childhood.
Yinon’s upbringing not only left its mark on Yinon, but his brother, Nadav, as well. Nadav actually went into type design long before Yinon ever made his first foray into the field, establishing the largest type foundry in Israel. Yinon eventually followed in his brother’s footsteps, finding his way into typography and never looking back.
Yinon is fascinated by visual communication and particularly communication through Hebrew fonts. Having grown up near Tel Aviv, Yinon has a soft spot for Hebrew fonts and spends his time working on both Latin and Hebrew type designs in equal measure. His work “has a unique mixture of the ancient Hebrew nature, and the structured geometrics of the Latin type,” Yinon said.
His intense interest in the development of Hebrew fonts inspired him to share his knowledge with others by conducting Glyphs workshops on the topic. Particularly for graphic designers who seek to work with fonts that offer Hebrew alphabets, Yinon’s work is definitely worth checking out.
One of his more recent releases through YouWorkForThem is YE Agistri, a “uniquely decorative sans” with an avant-garde architecture. YE Agistri carries itself with a classic style that, while smooth, contemporary and at times almost a little futuristic, offers a very distinct retro vibe at the same time. Its geometric and sharply angular design makes it best suited for smaller blocks of text, subheadings, bold displays, signage, advertising, book covers, posters, logos, product packaging, and labels.
YE Agistri is available in Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Bold, and Black, giving designers a lot of flexibility in their work. It extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, and Pan African Latin for global accessibility and international design projects.
