Ramiz Guseynov's TipografiaRamis Font Foundry - 1

Ramiz Guseynov was born and raised in Russia, eventually receiving a college education focused on architecture and graphic design. During the early years of his professional career as a graphic designer, he often found himself working with typography specifically, with much of that time being spent converting Roman typefaces into Cyrillic forms. Ramiz went on to develop considerable notoriety in his chosen field before relocating to the United States in 1991. He has enjoyed much in the way of recognition for his excellence in design, both at a national and international level, and he has worked with an impressive list of corporations and design studios throughout his long career.

While Ramiz remained focused on print design for many years, typeface design eventually became the cornerstone of his passion and career. He founded the TipografiaRamis font foundry in 2004, a solo business venture he developed for marketing his digital font designs to the world.

Ramiz develops his letterforms organically, with a strong emphasis on form elements that emerge from their most basic roots in geometry. The result is a striking balance of elegance and simplicity.

Colón Mono, for instance, is a monospaced serif family that pays homage to an era when typewriters prevailed, reminiscent of days that came and went before the world turned digital. Available in two weights of Roman and alternative styles with corresponding italics for each, Colón Mono is a modern type design with rounded, smooth edges that seamlessly blend the mechanical style of a typewriter’s heavy strike with the contemporary sleekness of our digital age.

Fox Grotesque features the bold, geometric lines of its sibling, Fox Sans, with elegant curls in its lowercase lettering. Primarily designed for use in larger displays, Fox Grotesque remains legible in smaller point and functions well in editorial applications. The uppercase lettering, particularly in Fox Grotesque Black, is ideal for headline use, and the entire font family is well-suited for commercial purposes. This font offers some OpenType features, including fractions, slashed zero, ligatures, and lining/oldstyle figures.

Compass TRF Stencil is a serif letter set that’s recommended for use in larger display sizes. Featuring three styles (Regular, Bold, and Alternative), Compass TRF Stencil offers the bold, geometric lines of traditional stencil lettering with an offbeat curling that sets it apart from the rest. The eccentricities of this font family provide designers with a livelier alternative to the otherwise plain, “cut-out” characteristics inherent to most of the stencil type designs currently available on the market.
