Based in Bangkok, Stawix Ruecha established his namesake type studio, Stawix Foundry, with the goal of building a library of both Latin and Thai fonts. “We aim to enhance and maintain the standards of the Thai type design industry with fresh ideas,” Stawix said.

When Stawix first set out to explore the field of typography, he found himself fascinated by everything related to lettering and design. “Back then I thought to myself, ‘Why are there so many typefaces? How were they made?’” he told us.

Eventually, he found out.

Stawix studied typography at university, a subject that would lead him to pursue type design full time. In the very early days of his career, the field of typography felt a bit overwhelming in terms of its endless possibility. But Stawix never backs down from a challenge and is, in fact, driven by his need to learn and grow as a type designer. Every new type design he creates offers a unique learning experience that only further solidifies his love for the craft.

Stawix Foundry offers a variety of type designs but perhaps what makes it stand out the most is its inclusion of Thai script. When Stawix established his type foundry, he wanted to start a movement that led to Latin and Thai fonts that were not only suitable for graphic designs in general, but that would provide new creative possibilities in both languages.

One of Stawix Foundry’s most recent releases is Soin Sans Neue, a revitalized type design based on Stawix’s Soin Sans, released back in 2011. As Stawix mentioned, Soin Sans Neue serves as evidence of just how his foundry has grown over time. Over the years that have passed since he began his career, he’s spent a lot of time thinking about typography and refining his craftsmanship.

Sometimes, that means refining and recreating an old typeface so it can rise a level that represents your current and far more developed skillset.

Soin Sans Neue is a contemporary and geometric sans serif that offers simplicity with a humanist touch. It offers stellar legibility, even in small point, making it well suited to large scale and small scale projects alike.

Soin Sans Neue is available in whisper-thin Hairline, Thin, ExtraLight, Light, Roman, Medium, Bold, Heavy, and Black, with corresponding italics for each weight. This range makes it a perfect choice for design projects of all kinds, including headlines, editorials, advertising, publishing, displays, signage, logos, marketing materials, corporate communications, white papers, infographics, presentations, product packaging and informational inserts, business cards, labels, tags, website designs, and mobile applications. It works beautifully in branding and identity projects that require design cohesion across multiple media types and sizes.

Soin Sans Neue offers many additional features through OpenType, including capitals to small caps, case-sensitive forms, fractions, historical forms, superscript, tabular figures, oldstyle figures, proportional figures, small caps, and stylistic alternates for greater versatility. It extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Catalan, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, Pan African Latin, Dutch, Afrikaans, and Basic Greek for design projects intended to reach a global audience.

Stawix Foundry currently offers 16 products through YouWorkForThem, a range of slab serifs, serifs, and display typefaces to suit a wide variety of projects. Visit his portfolio to view the rest of his work and bookmark it so you can check back for new additions as they arrive!
