What Does “Free” Really Mean?
At YouWorkForThem, we offer a curated collection of free fonts (sometimes called demo fonts), available for download with no upfront cost. However, while these fonts are free to license, they are still bound by the same legal terms and restrictions that apply to paid fonts.
Free does not mean unrestricted.
Governed by the Standard Font License
All free fonts are licensed under the same End User License Agreement (EULA) as our commercial fonts. This means:
- They are permitted for both personal and commercial use
- They are covered by the same use limitations and scope of license
- Any large-volume or enterprise-level use still requires appropriate commercial licensing
- You can view the standard font license via the product’s page for complete legal details.
What’s Included in the Free License
Free font licenses from YouWorkForThem include:
- Desktop use (e.g., graphic design, print work, offline projects)
- Web Font use (via @font-face in your website’s CSS) if provided and supported
These uses are fully compliant under the free license so long as they remain within the standard terms outlined in the EULA.
What’s Not Included in Free Use
Free fonts do not cover the following:
- Mobile App embedding
- ePub usage
- Extended Commercial Licensing for large-scale distribution or broadcasting
- Any situation that requires modification rights, server embedding, or OEM redistribution
For these purposes, an appropriate paid license is required (details here) —even if the font was initially downloaded for free.
Stay Compliant, Stay Creative
When using free fonts, always:
- Review the font’s license summary listed on the product page
- Ensure your project stays within the allowed scope
- Upgrade to a paid license if your usage exceeds what’s permitted
- Simply contact us if you have questions.
All font licenses at YouWorkForThem are easy to understand, with no subscriptions required and clear options for personal, commercial, and enterprise use.
